Myrtle Beach Vacation!!! :O)

Every year, my family goes to Pirateland for our vacation. This year was the same--well almost. This is going to be a LONG post so here goes nothing....

Saturday June 18th-
We left Oburg and headed towards the beach. First though we stopped in Florence for Amanda's Thirty One Party. This was a win win for me b/c I got to order a super cute thermal tote and utility tote but also got to visit with Amanda, Brad, and Jennifer!!! :O) After the party Rob and I went to get Chinese b/c its a must each time we are in Florence. After eating it was my turn to drive to the beach. Mom and Dad were already there and had made it safely, there was one tire blow out in the caravan but it was taken care of. The drive to the beach wasn't too bad UNTIL we got on 544 and about five miles from Kings Highway. It took us at least FORTY FIVE minutes to get to the camp ground when it should have taken about 15 at the most. Once we got to the camp ground we unloaded the car and just rested. G-ma was excited to be at the beach with everyone and she looked good. We had chicken salad sandwiches for supper and Rob and I went swimming. It was nice to just spend time, the two of us, playing in the water and acting like little kids again!

Sunday, June 19th-
Rob and I didn't make it to church service on Sunday at the camp ground chapel. We did however make it to breakfast. We had grits, eggs, bacon...you name it, we had it, and it was delicious. I decided to look at the schedule at Pirateland that they give you when you check in. I noticed that there was a Putt Putt Challenge from 11am to 3pm at the camp ground and that the lowest score wins. So Rob and I decided to play and this would be our practice round for the Annual Putt Putt Truesdale Championship. We did eat lunch before we went which consisted of more chicken salad for me b/c i love my g-ma's chicken salad :O) After eating we headed to the putt putt course and played. It was hot but we had water with us and played. I didn't fair to well on the first hole--took me four stokes-- but in the end Rob beat me by one. I did have two holes in one this round. After playing we headed back to the camper and rested. Rob fell asleep and then I did but was soon wakened by the rain on the tin roof of the camper. Rob didn't wake up but I did and it was LOUD, soothing, but loud. After the rain, I feel asleep again and then Rob woke up. Once we both woke up, we watched the College World Series game that was USC and Texas A&M. After the game it was time for some sleep :O)

Monday, June 20th--
Today I woke up to a text message from my mom during the night that said my g-ma was taken to the hospital during the night and they didn't get home til 5am. G-ma was kept at the hospital and that granddaddy was going back this morning along with my daddy and uncles. Rob and I had decided we were going to go see her while we were out and about today. We headed to North Myrtle Beach today. We went to Barefoot Landing to do some shopping. We picked up some taffy, a T ornament, and then went to House of Blue for our wonderful lunch. I love going to HOB b/c they have a appetizer of catfish and sweet potato fries with spicy tartar sauce. Its so GOOD!!! I was stuffed after eating it but I was going to have dessert as well. We got the Banana Bread Pudding, aka WOW bread puddin'. Oh it was amazing and well worth EVERY calorie. After Barefoot we headed to the mall and the Bass Pro Shop. We walked around a bit, I bought an owl necklace, and then headed to Tanger Outlets. While we were there mom had sent us a pic of g-ma and told us she was looking better. At Tanger, I bought two shirts at Old Navy and that was it. We did look at a few more stores but that was it. While we were leaving, mom sent another message to me stating I needed to get to the hospital. We were very close by so we headed on over. Once we got there dad told me that g-ma had gone out for a few minutes and that things were touch and go. G-ma was being put into an ICU type of unit and that she will be monitored. I did go into the room but G-ma was kind of out of it. They moved her to a new room and we waited to see her. Once she was moved and stable she was the same old G-ma. She was joking around and was telling us how she just felt bad a few minutes ago but she is feeling better now. We stayed at the hospital for a few hours and g-ma was improving. We went and played out first round of putt putt for the championship at Jungle Safari. Rob beat me by one. It was very humid and we were sweating like crazy but we wanted to check on g-ma again before we headed back to the camp ground. She was still doing ok so we headed out. Dad stayed with g-ma at the hospital for the night.

Tuesday, June 21st--
Woke up this morning and was told that my mom had gotten stuck in the bathroom last night and that she was calling people to help her get out. Patty and Wayne took the door handle to get her out. I laughed for a long time about this one. After breakfast, Rob and I went to Medieval Times to get our tickets for the show tonight. After getting the tickets, we headed to see g-ma b/c we had been told she was improving still!! :O) We got to the hospital and g-ma was eating breakfast and was in good spirits. She was feeling good. She laughed when I told her about mom. I took her some pound cake, her glasses, and also her favorite crackers. After visiting with g-ma we were told she would be moving to a regular room this afternoon after she had a pic lone placed. G-ma got her lunch so Rob and I headed out to Broadway for more shopping. We headed to the Tanger Outlets on Hwy 501. Rob bought two shirts at Casual Male, I got a white dress--it is super cute, and we had ice cream from the Fudgery--Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in a waffle cone!! After the outlets we decided to look for a Wachiovia...this took about thirty minutes but we found one! We then went back to the camp ground, got cleaned up and headed out to Medieval Times!! We enjoyed the dinner and show. As always it was fantastic. We did get to cheer for the blue night instead of the green...he was an ok knight! After the dinner show we headed back to the camper ground and watched some more baseball....the Gamecocks did awesome against Virginia. Then it was off to bed for this sleeping beauty!

Wednesday, June 22nd--
This morning was a hat wearing kind of morning. We popped out of bed and went to eat breakfast with the family again.....more of the good stuff, bacon, sausage, grits. YUM! After eating Rob and I headed to the outdoor and indoor flea markets. We went to the outdoor first b/c it was early morning and soon it would be getting really hot. We bought a palmetto tree flag. We walked around the entire market and then headed to the indoor one. At the indoor flea market we bought some pecans--YUM! and some dips. We love the low country dips at the flea market--just add sour cream and mayo. While walking around the indoor flea market, we walked by an incense table. We over heard the sales lady state to an African American woman " do you smell that? its the essence of Barack Obama"...I laughed HYSTERICALLY inside my head!!! Did this sales lady really think that smell was of the president, I think not but good try. We went back to the camper and took our showers before heading to the Coastal Grand mall. At the mall, I got some new bras!!! Wahoo, the girls are happy! While trying them on mom called and said G-ma was asking when we were coming to see her, so off we went to see her. G-ma was in her new room, a normal room, and she was excited b/c she might get out tomorrow! She was so excited and showed us how she was standing using her walker and she was eating a lot more too. We visited for a while, then went to eat at Longhorn with mom, dad, Patty, and Wayne. We enjoyed supper but then it was time for round two of putt putt. We decided on a place called Capt'n Hooks. We took the challenging course and it was neck and neck until Hole 16--this is where my demise began. I just couldn't get the stupid ball into the cup---UGH!!! So needless to say Rob won this year. I pouted the ENTIRE way back to the camper which was about thirty minutes or so--SILENCE!!! Rob was giggling inside and told me this later. We got back to the camper, yes I was still pouting but it does finally end at some point. :O)

Thursday, June 23rd--
We had waffles and bacon for breakfast---again it was a breakfast for champions! Rob and I headed out to Broadway for some shopping and to main goal was to get a Rockuccino from the KISS coffeehouse. We first stopped at a sports place and Rob got a USC metal cut out. It is perfect for his man room. Next up, Pepper Palace. Pepper Palace has great salsa, cheese dips, butters, and anything else you can think of. We tasted some new things they had like candied jalapenos, sweet potato butter, and key lime mustard sauce. I bought some cheese dip, sweet potato butter and the key lime sauce. YUM-O! Next up was KISS Coffeehouse. We of course ordered a Rockuccino, mine was mocha and Rob got caramel--we added vanilla ice cream to it. They were very cold and refreshing. We went to River Street Sweets and picked up some pralines for Patty B. Then it was off to Eat at Joes! Rob has never been so it was new to him and the food was excellent. We had some calamari, hot crab dip, and hot fire balls, fish and chips, crab cake and lobster stuffed shrimp....happy bellies!!! Rob got any early b-day present too, a USC turvis tumbler :O) After getting a little red on my shoulders, we headed back to the camp ground. It started raining so we thought we might have to cancel our trip to the Boardwalk but it did let up. We saw G-ma before we headed out and she looked happy to be back.....i was happy she was back too! We ate supper with the family, grilled chicken, salad, and raw fries. We ate and our bellies were happy. We then headed to the boardwalk. We walked the entire 14 blocks. We saw the SkyWheel and it was pretty awesome. HUGE and colorful. We enjoyed the walk and rewarded ourselves with Krispy Kreme. An assorted dozen was bought and will be enjoyed! We took that dozen to the camper with us. At the store, I had a regular one and Rob had a raspberry filled one. We then headed back to the camp ground because it was almost midnight and the gate locks then--we did have to ride the golf cart in the rain :O)

Friday, June 24th--
Today EVERYONE was at breakfast and we had waffles, sausage, and bacon--AGAIN!! G-ma looks fantastic and she was eating more today. She also drank orange juice and coffee. She was excited b/c she was going to the flea market today, pottery shop, and who knows where. Rob and I met up with my friend Leslie and her daughter Annabelle for lunch at the Coastal Grand Mall. It was nice to just catch up and to meet her beautiful daughter. We walked down the mall and Rob bought a game at game stop. After departing the mall we went for another Rockuccino at the KISS coffeehouse! Yes they are that good! Then it was back to the camp ground. We decided to FINALLY go look at the ocean around 5ish or so. We took some pics but it was very windy. There were shells everywhere and it was more like shell sand than sand. Rob enjoyed standing in the ocean, I am not a huge fan b/c I cant see what is around my feet--SHARKS, JELLY FISH, etc. After enjoying the ocean, we went swimming!!! Oh we love to swim. We also got in the lazy river for a few rounds. To end the night, we had nachos and twix ice cream--usually we have snickers but we decided to switch it up a bit. Then it was time to watch more USC baseball. This game was a nail biter and stressful. But we stayed up through the entire game. I was packing during the commericals and trying to get everything together since this was our last night.

Today, Saturday, June 25th--
We loaded up the car and headed back to Orangeburg.

Overall it was a great week at the beach. Now its time to wash clothes and get back to normal life again......

Only about four months until our cruise!!! :O)

Love Sun, Sand, and my Hubby!
J-Tru
