Patience is not my strongest attribute.....

Be Patient---really, have you ever met me? I am not a patient person and am one to want to get the job completed herself than rely on anyone else. The past few days those two little words, Be Patient, keep ringing in my ears. We haven’t had any changes in the past two weeks with the adoption process and for some reason that is bothering me. I know it shouldn’t because I know it takes time for paperwork to be processed and appointments to be made but for some reason I am just now feeling the “be patient” concept of our journey. I want so badly to call or email our specialist to check in but then again I don’t want to aggravate her because I know she is busy working with lots of families.  So my point of blogging this tidbit is to ask for you to pray with me to be understanding and to focus on the bigger picture of the entire journey to our family.

Psalm 46:10--- He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations,  I will be exalted in the earth.”

Fire Inspection: Completed!

Who would have guessed that after I posted about "a little bit of progress" that our Fire Inspection would be scheduled for four days later. The inspection was completed today and it went very smoothly--only took about 30 minutes top (Joyell you were right on the money with that time frame!!!). Our Inspector was new but she was prepared to complete the walk through. As usual, I was worried about the inspection but Robert was calm and cool. So what exactly did the inspection entail, well here you go:

  • verify that smoke alarms are in every bedroom and in the hallway and they are not over 10 years old
  • verify that the alarms are interconnected since our house was built after 1999 (i think that is the correct year)--the funny thing is we did not even know our were until she tested it and told us
  • verify we have a carbon monoxide detector
  • measure the windows of the two bedrooms that are for our children to insure firefighters can get in
  • verify we have a fire extinguisher (picture below of our new wall decor)
  • verify we have a fire escape plan in each childs room
  • verify our dryer was working properly

She gave us a copy of our inspection on the spot and told us she would be sending it to our Adoptions Specialist this afternoon. WAHOOOOO!!

So what is the next step:

HOME STUDY!!!

We will keep you posted on the progress....keep praying!!

a little bit of progress....

Today we received an email from our Adoptions Specialist telling us that she has reviewed our file and the only thing we are waiting on is the Fire Inspection. YAY for medical forms, reference forms, and DHEC forms being completed and received by the adoptions office. She informed us that she had sent the request back in November for our inspection to be scheduled but feels the delay is caused by personnel changes with the Fire Marshall's office. She is sending a second request for an appointment...keep the prayers coming!!!

As we continue this journey we will keep you updated, stay tuned for the great things God has planned for our family!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today I said to Rob this is the year we could be parents, how exciting/crazy is that?!?! We haven't had any changes in the process since before Christmas but we figure once the holiday hustle and bustle wraps up things will get moving again.

What else do we celebrate this year? We will be married FOUR years in May! It has been a great ride so far and cannot wait to see what else is in store. We will be in our home for TWO years. And we have had our sweet Roddy boy for THREE years this year. :0)

We hope that everyone has a wonderful new year with lots of fun, laughter, and love!
