WW Week 2

So as Rob says I am OCD about tracking my food and writing down everything I am eating. But it’s paying off….down another 1.8 pounds this week. I am really trying to stay on track so that I can lose weight and be healthy. I am retraining my mind to remember what correct portion sizes are and still can eat what I want---in moderation. Our society has become to complacent with just ordering food and not realizing its three portions on that one plate. I am hoping success continues and will keep you updated on the highs and lows :O)

I love being a loser!!!

Baby on the Brain

To preface, NO I am not pregnant and NO we are not trying to get pregnant right now.

So the past couple days I have been thinking about my future children. I have been told that my eggs are not as young as they use to be and that I need to get started on the baby making process (not by a professional or physician....just people i know!!!). The thing is though that Rob and I want to have out own house first, if possible, and be settled. We have our plan, 2 years, and then we will decide if its time to start the “process” of baby making. So many people around me are having kids and I think that is what causes me to go through this phase every so many months. I am sure Rob gets sick of it but he does talk to me about it. He reassures me that everything will work out when its time and that we will have each of our children back to back….yes we want door step children :O). So I guess its just another thing women deal with in longing to be mothers. For now I will live through my friends’ kids and at least I can give them back when they are fussy!!!!

Thanks for listening!!

Weight Watchers--I joined!!!

On Monday I joined Weight Watchers. This is not my first time doing this but the program has changed. I got to the meeting site and there was a TON of people getting ready to weigh in and signing up. What made me feel special is Joanie, the leader, came up to me and said that I was on her mind this morning. That made me think that I was definitely there for a reason. I got my new material and weighed in….getting up on the scale was not the most fun part of the ordeal but at least I learned that I had not gained back all 40 pounds I had lost last year….I gained back 30!!! That is what happens when you get married, fall into a routine, and don’t really worry about what you are eating. So I go into the meeting room and sit at the back because it’s the only seat available. I sit down and start looking at the material before the meeting begins and realize that I had finally made the decision to do it and stuck with it…now I have to follow through. Considering I bought the spring pass, I don’t plan on wasting that money!!! So Joanie came in and talked more about the program and also held a “new member/returning members” session. I learned that all my fruits are ZERO points and that most veggies are as well. YUMMMMMY!!! I figured up my points and I get a lot. The more you weigh the more you get, the base line though is 29. I am a little ways from that number. So any how, I am very excited and have been trying to stay within my points all week. The problem I am running into is I can’t eat all those points. I keep having some left over each day. That is not good. So I posted on WW Facebook and a girl said that I need to eat regular food, meaning not low fat or fat free and this will use my points more. DUH, Jill you should have known that!!! So I am going to try to do that the rest of the week. Ill keep you updated on the weigh in Monday and fingers cross that I am a LOSER!!!!!

Hoping to see less of me each week!!!

Prayers for G-Ma

On Thursday, 1/13, Gma fell in her house and broke her right hip. She was taken to KCMC and they admitted her. Room 237, just in case you would like to visit or call. Earlier in the day she had been to see a stomach doctor because she had been retaining fluid and they were not sure why. Her stomach had been very large for almost two months now...rough estimate. She was told on Thursday that what she has is called ascites. This also confirmed our worst fears that gma had cirrhosis of the liver. The family was praying this was not the diagnosis but due to family history we knew it could be possible. Gma was upbeat though because her physician told her it was treatable. What this treatment entails we are unsure as of yet but hopefully after the hip surgery is completed we can begin the rehab then on to treatment for her liver. Surgery had been planned for Monday but due to her liver and kidney function being less than fifty percent the physician wanted to monitor her a little longer and hopefully get the functioning up a little through medication. So tentatively we are set for Tuesday for hip surgery.

At this time my family, especially me, are coveting the prayers of family and friends. My gma has been the matriarch of our family for years and its hard to see her down. She is trying to not be scared and show weakness but I know its there. Thank you for the continued prayers and support and please keep them coming. God is the almighty healer and comforter. I know that he is with us through this and that He will continue to guide us.

Prayer changes things!!!

ICE ICE BABY

On Sunday night, Rob and I were just sitting in the living room and decided to look outside around 10:30ish. What we saw was the beginning of a crazy few days. At this point it was snow, a light dusting was coming down and covering our cars. As we sat for a little while longer, looking at closings, we began to hear pellets of something hard hitting the windows....ICE!!! Needless to say by midnight, both Rob and I knew our offices were closed for Monday.

We got up pretty early on Monday morning--I guess out of habit. Rob made pancakes, yes i am spoiled, and we enjoyed the slow pace of getting ready for the day. Rob played some Xbox and I just browsed the Internet. We got ready for the day and looked out the windows. Instead of a winter white play land it was an icy mess. It sleeted and rained all day long. We kept watching the ice form on the power lines and just knew that at some point we may be snuggling a little closer and longer than normal :O). We had our heat turned up a little more, our space heater on, and I was under a blanket!! Luckily our power did stay on and our pipes in the house were fine too. I washed clothes all day and we just sat on our butts. It was a great day!! We had left over homemade beef vegetable soup for lunch and meatloaf for supper. YUM! Our bellies were full and we were warm. We watched the news all day to see what was going on in the world and we soon saw that we each had a delay on Tuesday. Rob would not have to go in til 1 but I had to be at my office by 10:30am. I for one do not enjoy driving on icy, snowy, slushy roads. I have done this before and don't recommend it--that is why I live in the south. So of course I was in an uproar that the Gov. would make me risk my life to go to work. Plus I would have to get my car out of the casing of ice it was in. Well we went to bed and I didn't sleep well.

Tuesday morning we got up at 6:30am and I check the SC.gov website to see if the opening time has changed. YES it did to closed for 24 counties which included mine. A huge sigh of relief came over me and we went back to bed for a few hours. We got up and started chipping away at the ice on Robs truck since he had to go to work at 1pm. We completed both my car and his truck in 2 HOURS!!!! We also helped out neighbor and cleaned hers off too since she is elderly and we would not want her falling in this mess. I of course did not want Rob to leave but I knew he needed to go to work on the election stuff. So Rob went off to work and then I was bored. I was also freezing. I snuggled up on my chair, turned on the space heater, and watched tv. Soon after Rob left I began hearing load noises from outside..BANG, BOOM, CRASH....ok it did actually sound like those words but it was stuff falling everywhere outside--THE ICE WAS MELTING!!! It was LOUD!!! I finally got used to the noises and started to drift off just a little when SIRENS were coming from everywhere. I saw at least three emergency vehicles heading towards downtown...this is where i freak out because that is where Rob works and I am paranoid. I try to get in touch with him but no answer. Then OBURG pops up on the caller ID....oh dear, heart pounding, etc. Its Rob...just wanted to ask if we could have supper with Ed and Debra tomorrow instead of today. WHEW!!!! Relief!!! After talking we decided to get take out tonight too. CHINESE!!! Oh how i love CHINESE food but its just not good for you. Since WW was a no go this week due to SNOW I have not started the program because i don't have the materials. BOO!!! Excuses i know!! The food was great though and my belly was full--since i skipped lunch i figured supper wasn't too bad. After supper we just watched TV and waited to see if I was closed or delayed for Wednesday....DELAY for 2 hours. I was glad to hear it because I was getting a little sick of being home and cooped up!!!

Well today, I made it to work. There was lots of snow on the sides of the roads where it had been scraped and it was completely passable. I got to work and the driveway was a little slushy but not to bad. I parked and started walking to the employee entrance. I stop in my tracks because I was looking at a complete sheet of ice and I did not have on my ice skates. I managed to shimmy my way around the edge of the building were there was no ice/snow and made it in. Jean and I then decided to try to make a pathway for everyone to get in. We knocked away some ice and snow but it wasn't working that well. Rock, from the police dept., stopped and helped us after he saw us in distress :O) He put dirt on top of the ICE and we made a pathway. Now since the sun has melted some of the Ice its a big muddy mess...but at least its not an ice skating rink any longer. Rock did take a nose dive while helping us so I am sure he will be in pain later today. We did appreciate the help though!!!

So hoping the ride home is uneventful....

Stay Warm!!!

On my SOAP BOX!!!

I am going to get on my soap box about something, so if you get offended easily or think that when you read something it’s about you STOP reading here!!!!

I assume if you are still reading this then you have no issue with me ranting about something that gets on my nerves.

Recently Rob and I have been talking about things and we have decided that we are pretty good at managing our money and knowing what needs to be cut out of the daily craziness if things are getting tight. We don’t eat out constantly and we don’t buy things just to have them. We have become responsible adults who are able to manage a household.

So what is it you may ask that I am ranting about today….

Well the thing that gets on my nerves (at least for this blog post) is when people (adults) flaunt things they have, such as a computer, DVDs, TV’s, new phones, etc. and they did NOT buy them but MOMMY AND DADDY did. Don’t get me wrong my parents have bought me things, most recently tires, but they are not paying my bills. Also, for example, they are not paying for the EXTREMELY high credit card bills because I don’t know how to manage my money. It just gets under my skin when people try to be someone they are not. If you don’t have money to buy it then you don’t need it. If you cant afford your bills then its time to recheck your budget and get it back in line. My opinion is that if you can’t pay your bills but Mommy and Daddy do, then you are not an adult. Its time to put on your big boy and big girl panties and start managing your money!!! Mommy and Daddy’s money pot may run out one day and when it does you will be up the creek without a paddle.

I can’t stand it when people complain about not having money but then go out to eat constantly and then buy meaningless things that sit on a shelf at their house for years!!! What was the point of spending the money!!!!

Ok so that is all I am going to say about that.

If you feel that the person I am describing is you, then you better tighten your belt and start managing your money better. People do NOT like spoiled brats!!! EARN what you have, don’t ask Mommy and Daddy for it!!!!
